If you’re a utility or municipal operation looking for asset management software that leverages Esri’s ArcGIS platform, you’ve likely found that the major players in the space typically consist of:
- Cartegraph, and
We’ve got a lot of respect for these guys - admittedly, we are a small shop - learning and growing every day. We look up to our friends listed above and do our best to learn from their experience.
That being said, we think that Elements XS offers a fresh alternative to Cityworks, Lucity, and Cartegraph - especially for small to medium-sized utilities, public works, and municipal operations.
Elements XS has been around for over 10 years now and has steadily (and organically) grown to a customer base of ~85 organizations spread across the US (and a few in Canada).
So what makes Elements XS different? Feature for feature I don’t think our friends listed above are doing anything significant that we’re not doing. That being said, there are a few key components in Elements XS that we think are a bit unique:
Tailor the software to meet your specific needs and business processes. Users can tailor the menus, map display, map toolbars, button functionality, and much more to streamline their operations and cut out the clutter.
Don’t be scared - Ultra-Flexible does not mean Ultra-Time-Consuming-To-Build. Elements XS can be (and typically is) deployed with many pre-configured templates and business processes to reduce implementation time and get you up and running as quickly as possible.
GIS Centric. And More.
We consider Elements XS to be GIS Centric in that it utilizes the geodatabase (ie. ArcGIS platform - ArcGIS online and/or ArcGIS Server) as the single, authoritative asset repository for all things spatial. No copying or synchronizing GIS data or attributes - just real-time access via map and/or feature services.
Additionally, we offer options to manage vertical assets and other items that typically won’t exist in the geodatabase. Treatment plant components, facilities, fleet, and other assets can be neatly organized and managed with Elements XS - even if the vertical asset structure does not exist in the GIS.
Unique Utility Billing (and other) integrations
The real-time utility billing integration is unlike anything we’ve seen. The SCADA, 811, Fleet, and other integrations are also accomplished using leading web technologies - driven by customer feedback.
A Fresh Take on Asset Management
Elements XS started in 2004 and became an official commercial offering in 2006. The product was built without looking at or evaluating any other competing systems - intentionally - as we wanted to avoid creating something similar to what was already in the market and we wanted to provide a new, fresh take on asset management.
